Champlain Technology Group Partners with Altona Volunteer Fire Department to Offer Free Wi-Fi to Students

Altona, NY- The Champlain Technology Group and the Altona Volunteer Fire Department have joined forces to offer free Wi-Fi outside the Altona Fire Department to students that need to be able to access the internet for school. The Altona Fire Department approached Champlain Technology Group with this idea and agreed to upgrade the internet service to fiber optics to make this project happen.

The Champlain Technology Group is providing and maintaining the needed wireless equipment free of charge for at least 60 days or until the COVID-19 crisis has subsided. Students that need wireless access can use the Wi-Fi from vehicles in the parking lot. The Fire Department simply asks that people using it do not block garage bays so that fire trucks are able to leave the building in case of emergency. This free Wi-Fi location is the first of four that Champlain Technology Group intends to launch in their serving area. Upcoming locations will be located in Champlain, Rouses Point, and Mooers.

In response to the pandemic, Champlain Technology Group is also providing free internet service to new households with students in grades K-12 or college who do not already have a broadband subscription. This offer began on Monday, March 23rd and be provided for 60 days. After the 60 days, customers will be charged at the market rate based on the package of their choice. Installation fees will be waived.
